Rob McCann, Head Coach Defense - Assabet Valley
McCann has been the head football coach at Assabet Valley for the past five seasons. The Aztecs have compiled an overall record of 43-15 during that stretch and have won the State Vocational Super Bowl in 2006 and the Central/Western Mass. 3A Super Bowl this past season. McCann earned his undergraduate and Master’s Degrees from Worcester State College and has taught history at Assabet for eight years. McCann is currently the Director of Curriculum at Assabet Valley. McCann’s highlights include winning 3 consecutive Super Bowls as a player at St. Peter-Marian High School from 1992-1994 and being a member of an undefeated Prep Team as a post-graduate at Worcester Academy. However, no personal highlights outshine the 2008 Aztec Super Bowl win and the work he does coaching and teaching the student body at Assabet on a daily basis.

Terry Walles, Head Coach Offense - Shrewsbury
Coach Terry Walles has a combined 15 years of coaching experience.
1986 offensive coordinator for the Western New England College Golden Bears.
1995 - offensive coordinator for Doherty High School in Worcester.
1996-1997 offense for Auburn High School
1997 season, the team won 9 games, the school record for most wins in a seasons.
As head coach of Shrewsbury High School has an overall record of 73 " 53 including 4 league titles, 3 super bowl appearances, and 2 super bowl wins, the only two in school history.
In three of his seasons in Shrewsbury team has had ten or more wins (10 in 1999, 11 in 2000 and 13 in 2007). The perfect season of 2007, with 13 wins and no losses, set a school and Central Mass Division 1 record for most wins in a season.
Walles is one of only a few who have experienced a super bowl win as a player and head coach. Playing for Coach Ralph Raymond, he quarterbacked his high school team to super bowl appearances in 1979 and 1980, winning in 1980. He was captain his senior year. While playing for Coach Alex Rotsko at American International College, and broke school records in 1985 for passing TDs, attempts, completions, passing yards and total offensive in a season. He lead his team to a final ranking of 14 overall in Division II and received two Gold Helmet Awards, the AIC President's Cup Award, and was named All New England and Team Offensive MVP.
A graduate of American International College (B.S. in Business Administration) and Anna Maria College (M.ED.) Walles is an Assistant Principal at Union High School. He resides in Worcester.

Ian Butterfield, Offensive Line - Shrewsbury
Fourth season as the Offensive/Defensive Line coach. 
Graduated from Hofstra University in 1999.  
Freshman Football coach at Shrewsbury High School 2003-2005.
Physical Education teacher  and also the Head Boys Track and Field Coach at Shrewsbury.  He currently resides in Rutland, MA.

Matt Porcaro, Split Ends - Shrewsbury
South High 1990 grad, played in 2 Super Bowl s at South, Umass 19998, Coached 2 years at Wachusett, has been the Wide Receivers coach at Shrewsbury High since 1999, also coaches Basketball and Softball at Tahonto High where he is a teacher.

Lee DiGristina, Running Backs - Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury High School Defensive Coordinator & Special Teams;
two years at Framingham State College - running backs and linebackers coach. Also coached at Konaweana High School on the Big Island of Hawaii where he spent two years, linebackers coach then Defensive Coordinator. Currently Physical Education teacher in Shrewsbury at Sherwood Middle School.

2001 graduate of Ithaca College where he was an outside linebacker for the Bombers.  Originally from Utica, NY.

Bill Orfalea, Running Backs - Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury High Grad in 2002, 4 year letter winner in both football and baseball, set a school record for scoring a TD in all 4 years. Member of the Super Champion team of 2000. 3 year starter in football. Billy led Central Mass in rushing his senior year and was Offensive Mvp in Division 1 and a T & G All Star. He was the offensive MVP in the 2002 Chowder Bowl. was a 4 year starter in baseball and captain in both football and baseball. Billy went on to be an outstanding TB at WPI. He coaches the running backs and defensive backs at Shrewsbury.

Lee Diamontopoulos, Quarterback - Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury High 2001 graduate, 3 year starter at QB in Football winning a Super Bowl in his Senior year. 3 Sport Captain(Baseball & Basketball also) Graduated from Framingham State in 2005 as a 4 year varsity Baseball player, Presently is an assistant Football and Basketball coach and is in his First year as the Head Baseball Coach. Lee also is a teacher at Shrewsbury High.

Nick Dion, Offensive Line - Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury High Grad in 2001, Nick was a 2 way starter at OT/DT for the 2000 Super Bowl Champion team. He also served as captain. He was a league All star and also a T & G All Star. He also played in the 2002 Chowder Bowl. Nick was also a member of the 2000 Shrewsbury Hockey State Champs. Nick works at Shrewsbury High.

Ken Stukonis, Defensive Line - Assabet Valley
Stukonis is in his 7th season coaching at the division 3A Super bowl Champion Assabet Valley High School in Marlboro. He coaches the varsity offensive and defensive lines for the Aztec football program. Stukonis is a former graduate of Assabet as well a player on three straight Super Bowl teams from 1983 to 1985. He has been an instructor in the Auto Collision Technology department at Assabet for 10 years. He also serves as an Assistant Varsity Hockey coach for the Aztecs and has been co-coordinator of the Hogworks lineman football camp for the past seven years.

Mike Nicalek, Line Backers - Assabet Valley
Mike is a 6th year teacher in the Physical Education/Health department at Assabet Valley.  He has served on Aztec Football team as the varsity defensive coordinator for the past five years and as an assistant freshman coach for one year.  Mike is also a Certified Athletic Trainer, earning his degree in Physical Education and Athletic Training from Northeastern University.  He spent the first 12 years of his career working as an athletic trainer in various settings, including two years with the Philadelphia Eagles.  He notes playing in and winning the 1984 and 1985 Super Bowls for Grafton High School and then coaching Assabet (the team he played against in high school) in their 2008 Super Bowl win, as his most memorable moments in sports.

John Silk, Defensive Backs - Assabet Valley
John holds an undergraduate degree for Assumption College in Communications. John played college football at Assumption and enjoyed his time on and off the field. John also holds a Master’s degree from Emerson College in Boston, Ma in the field of journalism. After a short stint in the world of sports journalism, John found his true passion in the field of teaching. John is currently an English teacher at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough, Ma. In addition to his teaching duties he has served as an assistant football coach for the past five years, is an assistant girls basketball coach and is the varsity baseball coach at Assabet. John notes working with the athletes on a daily basis and the football team’s Super Bowl win in 2008 as his coaching highlights to date.

Ed Dumphey, Defensive Line - Assabet Valley
Eddie is from Worcester and currently resides there with his wife Rebecca.  He graduated with honors from Worcester State College.  Eddie is currently a Mathematics teacher at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough, Ma.  As well as teaching, Eddie coaches football, basketball, and is currently the Junior Varsity Softball coach at Assabet.  Some of Eddie’s sports highlights were winning the Super Bowl at St. Peter Marian in high school and being part of the coaching staff that Guided Assabet to their first Super Bowl win in over 20 years.
